Hey Everyone!

So, since this is my first official post on our new blog, it should be something spectacular, shouldn’t it?  It should be something witty and fun-filled and overflowing with energy, right?  Well..sorry to disappoint, but it’s going to be a simple “hello” and a brief introduction.

My name is Kristin and my husband is Doug.  I refer to him as “D.Jones”.   I’ll probably be doing most of the writing here, but you may see a “visit” from D.Jones once in awhile.  Together we have one son, named Cooper, who is not quite 2 years old.  When Cooper was born I decided to leave a career in the finance industry and stay home with our little “Buddha” as we began to call him when he was a really fat little guy.  He’s since started walking (no, running!), and has lost that baby weight, but he’s still Buddha to us.

After I’d been home for about 8 or 9 months I decided I needed something more and began doing freelance writing for a magazine.  I have enjoyed doing that for about a year now.   I am also in the midst of starting my own “foodie” blog and will include a link once I’ve gotten it off to a proper start.  All of this is simply to explain why you’ll probably see me on here far more than D.Jones.  He works in trading, and although he’s an avid reader, I don’t think writing is really his gig….  Well, I take that back.  Fiction writing is of interest to him, but perhaps not blogging.

How this whole family blog got started is a short story.  Not long ago I sent out a YouTube link of our son Cooper to some family.  Between D.Jones and I we’ve got family and friends spread near and far.  Well, not that far.  California, Alabama, Washington, North Carolina, Illinois, Montana.  Not exactly around the world, but not right here in the midwest.  Far enough away that we miss them terribly, and far enough away that we are sad that we don’t get to see them nearly enough.   Anyhow, some family members mentioned how they really enjoyed seeing Cooper in action, and I figured we’d start a family blog, because we also have relatives, including one of Cooper’s ”Papas” across the border in Wisconsin.  Now that’s not too far away, but as many of you parents out there know, when you are dealing with a toddler, they change so quickly that in a week they seem like an entirely new and different little human being.

We are hoping that in those in-between weeks or months, when family and friends wherever don’t get the opportunity to see us all and get to watch Cooper change and grow, that they can simply check in on us here and at least feel like part of the action.

So…in the future we will post pictures, stories, or little anecdotes about our daily grind.  We hope you find them touching, amusing, thought-provoking, or even just readable if you happen to stop by for a visit.   It’s really just all stated in the title, and not as wordy as my above description.  What you’ll regularly find here is “what’s up with the Joneses”.

So,  thanks for stopping by and until next time~

KJ

    LOVE IT!

I feel like you are right around the corner now. And you are correct, we LOVED the TouTUbe post with Coops and Doug. There was one thing wrong with it though…Coops should be singing “Bear down, Chicago Bears!”
We miss you and love you all!

GASP! Are you the same Kristin I heard being interviewed by one hilariously talented drag queen whose initials are W.W.??? I loved you on there! And I’m honored to be on your blogroll too. Retarded people such as myself are easily impressed with things like that though.
